Liked It“...so far this is great. I can't wait to read the next novel.” see full review » see other reviews » |
Didn’t Like It“Although this book had some interesting historical details, it was extremely long and boring. I definitely would only recommend it to someone who REALLY loves political fiction. I wasn't a fan. I even tried to listen to the audiobook to see if that helped. It didn't.” see full review » see other reviews » |

I find that the book is easily as compelling the second time as it was the first.”

This book proves that Ellroy is far more than a genre writer... his use of language and flawless understanding of period slang and attitudes prove that he is among one of the most talented people writing today. If you have any interest in how the Kennedy assassination might have happened, you need to read this book. Also, J. Edgar Hoover is one of the most frightening villains ever. Actually, for a complete fiction-picture of the assassination , I would recommend Don DeLillo's 'Libra' as well. These books make great companions for understanding two views of the event. ”

His clipped, at times nearly verb-less prose gets to be annoying. White Jazz is probably the worst of 'em in that regard, but not Am Tab. It's a crazy good page turner.”
