The Illuminatus! Trilogy: The Eye in the Pyramid, The Golden Apple, Leviathan

by Robert Shea, Robert Anton Wilson

Definitely the biggest head trippy-book I've ever read. You really won't believe it's true until it makes you cry.

Widely imitated, but never duplicated - even by the authors. Read it once, set it aside, then try it again ten years later, and discover a completely different book. It's not that you've changed; magical book elves actually change the text of every copy of Illuminatus! in the world every five years. Warning: there are actual facts in here, but you have to extricate them yourselves. Heh.

I'm a teacher and I still tell my kids about the number "23" and the eye in the pyramid. At the very least it gets 'em thinking!

I still don't like and don't get the detective framework to the book's structure.
