reads like a pacy novel. exceptional research. mr. biskind seems to like iconoclasty. sometimes, a bit forced, i feel, painting the flip side so bleak. but very entertaining nonetheless. quite an expose of the rush of new hollywood. must read for anyone and everyone who loves films by scorsese, coppola and such.

Great stuff. A lot of fun - with good, nasty stories.

One of the best books about movie-making I've read. Talks to all the people that matter and paints a vivid picture of the era. Much better than his 90s equivalent (Down & Dirty Pictures), probably because the characters are so much more interesting. Read this and prepare yourself for a big DVD rental bill afterwards!

Movie making by those who were once mavericks and now have lost the edge. Sad really.
