The plot is thin and predictable. NOTHING happens... or rather, nothing interesting happens. The synopsis on the back cover actually carries you through 2/3 of the book. It was very much a "set up" book for the trilogy. Canavan's writing and the realistic portrayal of Sonea's distrust of the Guild are the only redeeming factors. Not sure if I will continue with the series.”
