“Shelfari book review
The book I read for the Middle East unit was a Stone in my hand. The story takes place in the Gaza strip. The main character is named Malaak , She lives with brother Hamid, her sister Hend and her mom and dad. Her dad leaves to find a job when he leaves Malaak waits for her dad on her roof. Later on in this book they find out the dad got bombed and sadly died. The climax was when Malaak brother Hamid gets shot in the head and he lives. I thought the book was good but I didn’t like the ending you don’t find out what happens to any one in the family it ends were Hamids in the hospital and he’s in a coma. It would be better if you foynd out what happened to Hamid. My favorite part was the climax it really wanted you to keep reading the book. This book really could happen to any family in the Middle East from research I did on the Middle East. The book gave really good detail. Like the setting and when the dad left them. Some connection I made with this book was that people that live in the Middle East go though this stuff everyday. I would recommend this book to anyone that’s want to learn more about the middle east from a 1 to 10 rating I would give it a 7.5 the ending wasn’t vey good it doesn’t leave off at a good place. It would be better if they told us what happen to Hamid and does he or doesn’t. Some quotes form the climax “Hamid fell on to me.” “Its all my fault if I only gotten to the roof sooner.” All in all the book was pretty good and I would really try to read it.
i loved the book too.
