At the end of the book, Massie and Claire were becoming friends because both of their Dad’s were drinking and they got drunk. Then they got on stage and wanted Claire and Massie to get up on the stage and sing with them. People say that it happens every year with Massie’s Dad. Massie and Claire were both embarrassed and then Claire texted Massie and told her to meet her behind the bushes, that were behind the tent. Then when they met each other there, they started talking about how embarrassing their families were. Then Massie said that she was sorry for always being so mean to her. Then, Massie said how she really wasn’t that bad and stuff like that. Massie and Claire talked for a long time and then when it got really late, and everyone from the party went home, they said that they should probably go back home. They were getting along really well, and Claire said to herself that she felt as though she was starting to be liked by Massie. She also said to herself that she thinks that there could actually maybe be hope for them two to be friends.

I really enjoyed the book The Clique. I liked how it was about drama, and it had “cliques”. At first, when the Lyon’s moved in with the Block’s, Massie didn’t like Claire at all. It took a while for Massie to be a little nice to Claire. Claire and Massie were in the same grade and Massie was supposed to show Claire around the school and she was supposed to help her make friends. When the first day of school came around, Massie made fun of Claire to her friends and she talked about her and she was really mean to her. She didn’t help her with anything and she just left her by herself right when she walked in the school doors. Claire had no idea where she was going and where her classes were and everything. She went in the bathroom once she found it, and then she cried because she was scared and nervous.

One key event that happened in The Clique is when Massie found out that Layne Abley was Chris Abley’s sister. Layne and Claire had just become friends and they started to hang out on the weekends and everyday. Chris and Massie met one day when they were riding horses on a back trail. Then they started to talk and hang out and stuff. Massie told her three best friends, Dylan, Kristen, and Alicia about meeting Chris Abley. Massie really liked Chris Abley. And they would ride horses with each other every time that they could. They had a lot of fun. Then one day when the Abley’s came to pick up Claire to go somewhere, Massie saw that Chris was in the car too. Then it finally hit Massie that they were related. When Chris and Massie went riding together next, Massie asked Chris if he knew Layne Abley, and he said yes, she is my little sister. So then Massie wanted Chris to like her more so then she said that she and Layne were really close friends, even though they really weren’t. Then, Massie started to talk to Layne and she invited her to go riding with her and Chris next time they went. Layne went and they were all having a fun time. Layne started to ditch Claire to hang out with Massie, because she really thought that Massie liked her. Layne didn’t know that Massie was only trying to hang out with her to get closer to Chris. That is one key event that happened in the book The Clique.

I'm sorry, but I can't stand this book.

For one thing, it's very poorly written. I found myself forcing myself to continue - it was rather dull! Also, her dialogue isn't great - she says "he said" or "she said" after every sentence, which got kind of old after a while. Aside from that, the details aren't great - it seems like just about everything is described by a brand name, not by what it actually looks like. Think "The shoes were the color of the sun when it first creeps over the horizon" versus "They were orange crocs." Not the best example, but you get my idea.

Also - I mean, it's incredibly shallow. There isn't much plot at all - it's just a bunch of materialistic, spoiled brats who get their kicks from being the best and picking on people. Honestly, I think these are the people that plague society :|.

And the worst part is, kids actually take them seriously. Lisi Harrison claims to have written them to show girls how not to act, but I don't see how it discourages such behavior at all. It seems to make being a fake snob look like a dream come true.

    I will shut up now.
