San Pedro prison is the most unique prison in the world. Thomas Mcfadden just so happens to be thrown into it. he is adrug smuggler who was ratted out by the corrupt bolivian government. when you are put in this unreal prison you must buy your cell and if you cannot afford one you will sleep outside and not have a home. Prisoners are allowed to have their family come and live with them. their is a steady cocaine flow throughout the prison. infact the high grade cocaine is made and packaged their. In this jail money is key. all prison officers may be bribed. one of Thomas's friends was killed by a police officer when he had the idea to tell the government about the corrupt prison. Thomas makes a living in the prison by giving tours of the prison to visitors of this unusual jail. This book will leave you on the edge of your seat wondering how and if Thomas Mcfadden will live or die. i suggest this book to anyone. men particulary because of the drug and abusive refrences. Kids under 13 should not read this book due to the overexposure to drugs.

Marching Powder is probably the most interesting book i've ever read. It's all about San Pedro Prison in Bolivia. It talks about all the cocaine flow through the prison and all the corruption in the government. I've read it over three times and I would highly reccommend it to anyone that wants to learn something new.

What a great biography. Even having visited this prison, only from the outside, I still find it incrediablly everything this book reveals of the seprate part of bolivian society conducted within the walls of La Paz's San Pedro prison, where the best cocaine in the world is produced.

Amazing story and true...parts are disturbing, but it shows you of our ignorance of what happens in other countries.
