Crank

by Ellen Hopkins

Ellen Hopkins's semi-autobiographical verse novel, Crank, reads like a Go Ask Alice for the 21st century. In it, she chronicles the turbulent and often disturbing relationship between Kristina, a character based on her own daughter, and the "monster," the highly addictive drug crystal meth, or "crank." Kristina is introduced to the drug while visiting her largely absent and ne'er-do-well... (read more)

I personally love this book and the form it is written. sometimes it is hard to understand where exactly to read next. Other then that I found the book like capturing and i at times did not want to put it down. It keeps you very interested so thats part of the reason why I kept on reading it instead of putting it down. ^^ So I highly recommend this book.

This was the first book I've read by Ellen Hopkins and I really enjoyed it. It depressed me a little, however. I suppose in a way it was meant to do that as a message to think twice about choosing a life like that. I look forward to her other books but I think I might wait a little bit before I pick up the another one. It's left me kind of down. Aside from that, this book made an amazing impression on me. If I wasn't tempted to try drugs before I certainly am not going to now. I recommend this book to any person even remotely involved in drugs. It's a real eye opener....

I can't believe her daughter really died from this...

or didn't she die? I'm a little lost. And I hate how she leaves her books sort of open-ended. Though, don't get me wrong this was an AMAZING book. :)
