  “Here Michael Shermer takes on the third rail, the elephant in the room, religion. Even though the book is called "how" we believe, it's also a lot of "why."”

  “Shermer is always interesting if not provocative and this book fits the bill. Shermer challenges the reader to consider different position in reference to the things many take for granted such as the universe, god and life in general. Backed with solid reserach, "How We Believe," offers a wide variety of thought provoking research into why people believe the thing they do. This is the second book in a three book series. The first book, "Why People Belive Weird Things," examines why people believe in UFO's, ghosts, religion and other paranormal phenomena. The last book, "The Science of Good and Evil," takes the reader through a scientific examination of morality and it's roots, including a history of human behavior long before civilization came to the world.
