  • Elena Gilbert: A beautiful teen girl struggling to cope after the sudden death of her parents. She now lives with her aunt and little sister, Margaret which is 4. Elena has a best friends Bonnie and Meredith. She also loves writing in her diary. She is in love with Stefan but also feels an odd attraction for Damon.
  • Stefan Salvatore: He is a 100 year old vampire deciding to come back to his home town Mystic Falls. He has a brother - they have not spoken to each other in years. Stefan is different, he does not feed off of humans and gets his nourishment from animals. He lost a loved one a long time ago and he still struggles to come to terms with that, untill he meets Elena.. then everythin changes
  • Damon Salvatore: He is the brother of Stefan Salvatore. He is a real bad boy vampire and likes to mistreat and abuse humans for his own entertainment. He comes to Mystic Falls to make is brother's life hell. Damon also finds himseld attracted to Elena, something that he knows would drive Stefan up a wall
  • Bonnie Bennett: She is Elena's best friend. Bonnie's family has a interesting history regarding the Salem witches. She also starts having psychic visions...
