I’m on page 102 of “The Vampire Diaries: The Struggle” by L.J. Smith. It’s the second book in the series and, so far, I find it just as captivating as the first book. The plot in this revolves around the incident that happened at the Halloween dance in the last book and, of course, the love triangle between Elena, Stefan, and Damon thickens. In this book Elena starts to form theories on who might have attacked the victim at the Halloween dance, and that person turns out to be someone she learns she deeply cares for. That twist makes the plot all the more interesting since the reader feels Elena’s anxiety thanks to the author’s crafty suspense. Also, the love triangle escalates since the two brothers stop seeing Elena as a second Katherine, and they start falling for her for real. For example, this quote on page 84 shows Stefan’s view on the Elena-Katherine issue, “He loved her so much. He never saw her as Katherine anymore; he had almost forgotten how much she looked like the dead girl. Elena was Elena, and her image had replaced Katherine’s gentle, ghost in his heart.” This quote exemplifies how Stefan has truly fallen for Elena and how giving her up to Damon will be an even greater rivalry. In sum, “The Vampire Diaries: The Struggle” is a fabulous sequel to the epic first novel, where all aspects intensify.

This book was very good. I didnt like how the first chapter of the book was the last chapter of the first book though. It got a little confusing. Stefan was found in a well because his brothe rput him there.

These books are hella-stupid, which I totally knew back when I originally read them in the '90s but it's kind of fun to read through them again and note just how much the TV Show improved on the source material.

This book is really cool, it makes you wanting to read more and more. It is when Elena has to make a choice to be with one of the Vampire brothers. Will it be Steffan or Damon? Will it be good or Evil? Will it be human life or a Vampires? she has to decide.
