I found Ark Angel in the free book bin at the local thrift store and scooped it up as YA fiction is one of my guilty pleasures. The writing is mediocre, a little cliched in places; nothing spectacular, but then, it's a book about a 14-year-old spy--a sorely underrepresented premise (treated plausibly and not "Spy Kids" movies style), so I like this series on that basis alone. I was interested enough to go back and read this, the first in the series, and will read the others as well. Artemis Fowl ranks better in my book (better written, but not even attempting to be plausible so it's a bit apples and oranges to compare the two), but these are okay. And sometimes okay is inspiring. It makes you think, Hey, I could write a book like this. My 12-year-old nephew could write a book like this. I hope he does! Go, Alex!

This is the first book of a series of seven. Pretty good book about a spy named Alex Rider.

I recommend this to anyone who likes spy novels or adventure books in general. Very James Bond (for teens).

You have to read this book first before you read any of the others. Basically what i am saying is that you have to read them in order

Basically these are a teenage "James Bond" type book (except without the women). Fluff books, of course, but my teenage boys and me steal them from each other to read.”

Well, this one is a real page-turner! Full of thrills, twists and turns, you will really enjoy reading this book. The only think that sort of pinched me was the slightly dark theme in the beginning of the novel. Otherwise, it is one of the greatest teenage spy thrillers, complete with cool gadgets and slightly far-fetched stunts,
