Alex Rider is spending his vacation in France when while on the beach, he sees Yassen Gregorevich. Out of the blue, the place where Sabina Pleasure's father is staying explodes. All is left is an article from his latest newsletter that burns to ashes after Alex Rider reads it. As if forced to react, Alex Rider goes after Yassen Gregorevich, but ends up getting himself in a trap. From this point, he is stuck in a brutal bullfight as a tease that Yassen had decided to play. Later, Alex finds himself testing a new phenomenal new gaming system called Game Slayer created by a man named Damian Cray. He later finds himself to be the villain in a cruel joke to take nuclear missiles from America and set their sites on sites on destroying the people who have made a negative impact on the world. In the end, Can Damien be stopped? Alex doesn't have any help from MI6, can he defeat Yassen and Damien both very powerful men.

  • Alex Rider: Main character of series. The 14 year old spy. He saves the world many times gets killed almost every time. But this time he has no support from anyone in M16, it seems that it is impossible, but if there was a fourteen year old who could do this it was Alex
  • Sir Damian Cray: The villain of this book. Also a pop star, a peace activist, and now maker of a video game. M16 doesn't believe he is a villain and they don't help Alex with his mission.
  • Yassen Gregorovich: A deadly assassin. Alex hates him because he killed Alex's uncle and guardian. Another connection to Alex's family comes later in the series
  • Sabina Pleasure: Alex's best friend.
  • Jack Starbright: Alex's housekeeper. Also his legal guardian and close friend. Basically his mother/father after his uncle's death. Takes care of him like he is her own son
  • Mrs. Jones: She is deputy head of MI6. Seems to like Alex, and has more emotions than her senior Alan Blunt
  • Smithers: The guy in charge of gadgets that Alex Rider uses when he is on a mission. The only person who Alex likes in M16
  • Alan Blunt: The head of MI6. Emotionless. Could be ordering an execution or ordering some new pens for his office, his face is still the same.
  • Ian Rider: Alex's only relative. His dead uncle, who was also a spy for MI6. Killed by Yassen. Told Alex that he was a banker.
  • Edward Pleasure: Sabina's father. Almost gets killed which makes Alex investigate the case and find out who it was
  • Franco: He is working with Yassen who killed Alex's Uncle.
  • Raoul: A deckhand working with Yassen.
  • Marc Antonio: A photographer in Paris
  • Robert Guppy: A friend of Marc Antonio's.
  • Charlie Roper: A man working for Cray, a senior officer with the NSA.
  • Henryk: A man working for Cray. Experienced with Jumbo Jets
