Some strange power/class/cultural-environmental domination themes that weren't as developed as I'd have liked. . .but fun.”

I'd come to a chapter and think, uh-oh - Stirling must have done some research on how wheat is harvested and now we have to suffer through 30 pages where wooden characters walk us through what he learned.
The ONLY way to finish this book is to skip or skim big parts of it. Stirling's editor must be a complete wimp not to challenge this stuff.”
