“I consider this the quintessential book on prayer. Too many Christians today neglect the discipline of prayer. The purpose of this book is to remedy this sad state of affairs. Carson explores why we ought to pray and teaches us how to pray like Paul. In so doing, we also gain a deeper insight into the life of the apostle. If you don't come away from this book with a renewed sense of the importance of prayer, and with a passionate intent to pray as fervently as Paul, you have not read this book as you ought to, nor do you know God as you profess to know. Carson's quote from Scottish pastor Robert Murray M'Cheyne at the start of the book. "What a man is on his knees alone before God, that he is and no more", sums up this sentiment rather nicely.”
