A pretty wonderful suspense novel. I read it as a recorded book, which I recommend whole heartedly. A terrific reader, with a full panoply of voices. The author maintains a fine balance between the religious mysticism that animates Emmy Lou, the scientific rationalism of Lorna Wise, the psychologist, and the street smarts overlaid with Cuban Santeria experience of Jimmy Paz. A grim picture of how the government manipulates events and people to support their vision of "national security."
