I loved this book! It made me laugh from the beginning until the end! Now don't get me wrong, it's not a frivolous book, it's just that the author has a wonderful sense of humour. WONDERFUL I SAY!
It's a must-read, it's too funny to pass it by!

Briefly, and by way of a comment rather than a critical review, I found Auntie Mame an entertaining tonic of a read. I picked it as part of research for an eccentric, flamboyant and extrovert female character and Auntie Mame provided masses of material. Patrick Dennis tells the tale as though he truly lived through all of Auntie Mame's colourful escapades. Though had that been the case I do wonder whether he would have emerged sufficiently balanced to tell his story with such wit and humour.

I read the Penguin Modern Classics edition with an Afterword by Matteo Codignola which provides an utterly fascinating background to Auntie Mame and the life and work of Patrick Dennis. I am minded now to read more of Patrick Dennis, particularly Around The World With Auntie Mame.

A sweet little book with interesting and eccentric little stories around "Auntie Mame".
The first third is brilliant, after that it lacks the shine a bit.
    Nevertheless a thoroughly enjoyable read!

I really enjoyed this book. Auntie Mame is fun, exciting and has such a zest for life!!! She also has a kind heart which her nephew grows to see. Very entertaining story.

I know I read this ages ago. Don't know if I still have a copy, will have to hunt. I remember it as being an enjoyable read.
