- Bruce Robertson: A foul-mouthed and corrupted Scottish police officer whose problems with drugs, women, and a conscience-nibbling tapeworm threaten to unravel his entire existence.
- The Tapeworm: A parasitic pest which interrupts Bruce's narrative at the most inopportune moments. The worm coerces Bruce to coat his insides with grubby pastries and greasy curries, which really isn't doing anything to help his rash.
