My favorite novel ever. Tragic, beautiful, maddening, inspiring. This is no mere "anti-war" novel. It gets better with every re-reading.

I saw the movie before I read the book, but both were still amazing. I enjoy war stories, and this was a great one!

One of the greatest novels about the First World War and on of the few from the German perspective. However, Dalton Trumbo's Johnny Got His Gun will always be number one. Remarque does beat out Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms.

This depicts the awful conditions that soldiers during World War I experienced. Really good read if you find that era interesting or have a thing for war novels. I recommend it.

I have to be honest, this is one of those books that I have read at least 6 times. I love this book. I had to read it for my undergrad at IUPUI- and since then, I have chosen to read it on my own over and over again.

It is a beautiful book about the horrors of WWI. The author, a german veteran who felt such detachment from those of his own race when coming home.

Not only is it a great book, but it is a great movie too! Oscar-award winning.

A great part of the curriculum, it helped me to understand warfare. I wouldn't have picked it up independently, but I am happy that I read it.

It's a very intense and explicit fictional tale of soldiers and their way of life during World War I. I really enjoyed it! It's a very dark read, though.

A good wartime novel. Taps into the struggles soldiers endure and the horrors they witness. I enjoyed how the novel explores the realtionship dynamic between the characters as they witness death after death. However, I read this in high school so I probably should read it again.

This book tells of the horrors of war and how it destroys a soldier's body and mind. It is a sad story, and rather gory, but a good book none-the-less, though it's not really my type. It's interesting, and gives one a lot to ponder.
