Bet Me was hilarious in parts. In fact the first three chapters, I was laughing every other paragraph. Min's internal dialogue while David dumps her is one of the funniest scenes in the book as was Cal's reactions to Min's unique footwear.

I loved Harry, Bink, Bonnie, and Tony. Roger felt a bit indistinct to me, and Liza's constant interruptions between Cal and Min were irritating.

Bet Me was fast-paced with snappy banter and some truly LOL scenes.

Most of the chick lit I read is pretty similar in terms of story, and this one wasn't any different. There is the imperfect heroine Min, whom we can relate to because she's imperfect in her physical appearance, especially in close juxtaposition with her two BFFs. Somehow she manages to land not one, but two, very physically attractive guys.

It's unfortunate that the book opens w/ the first hunk dumping her, but I'm not exactly full on sympathetic to her plight. Still, characters were decently developed, and you get the happy ending you want. The best part of the book was how the author described Calvin telling his ex girlfriend Cynthie that it was really over between them, and his realization of how much that actually hurt her. It brought a humanizing element to an otherwise flat villain.

3.7 stars I enjoyed this romantic twisted knot of a tale. The women had strong independent roles and were intelligent. I've had enough of the poor dumb women clichés'. It was filled with quick snarky lines and tender sweet moments. Yes there was a'bad' buy and although he wasn't stupid he was an idiot and very believable idiot.
Now about the story, I don't really need to tell you anything about it. It's a contemporary romance, there is a cat, a handsome man, a woman, one witch of a woman, the evil man, some friends, two crazy nut-o families and some really good Italian food. If you're looking for fun, light romantic comedy with a HEA this is a good book for you.

Surprisingly, this was a pretty good read! I have never read this author before. The book was slow to start, but about halfway through, it became really good.

My very first romantic comedy novel which I consider more to be humorous than romantic. Min is sharp and witty actuary with a sarcastic, biting humor that's hard not to love (or emulate). She has a strong relationship with her sister and 2 best friends and doesn't like to gamble (read- actuary), however, when the mood strikes (more often then not) she has a wicked streak a mile long.

I never get sick of reading this book. Cal and Min are adorable. Contemporary romance at its best.
