“Exercises that actually encourage the right brain to express itself even worked for me...a very left brained person. When under the influence of these exercises, I even feel differently and see the world differently. A great book for those who think they have no artistic side.”

I think she is pretty amazing - very very good at explaining, and a great teacher. Millions of people have learnt to draw from this book - almost everyone I meet in the drawing world. ”

I work as a graphic and multimedia designer and I was an avid watercolourist - but for years the thought of picking up a pencil and sketching would terrify me. This book sat on my shelf for years before I summoned the courage to crack it open and start to learn to draw. My motivation was to be able to draw the scenes I would experience on my summer vacation to the Maritimes....I merely wanted to be able to draw realistic buildings and figured that the human form was beyond me...well, let me tell you --I never thought it could be so simple! Now I am drawing realistic hands and objects, full of depth and realism. I feel like an artist who can draw (and draw well) and it took me only a bit over a week (in the evenings) and some practice. I love how easy Edwards makes it seem and I am so glad to have had the chance to read this book and apply its principles. I highly recommend it to anyone who is too scared to pick up a drawing pencil and bring some life to a plain sheet of paper!”

The authors explains that we often draw what we think we see rather than what our eyes actually see. Learning to retrain your brain to accept input from your eyes before making a mark on paper is essential and anyone will increase the accuracy of their drawing greatly by following the tips in this book. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to improve their drawing ability.”

Indeed it IS an AMAZING book! It is not ONLY about drawing; you are encouraged to slow down, observe and express yourself in ways you may have never thought possible. The author shows you how to use drawing techniques for problem solving.
The MOST amazing thing about these techniques, is that they WORK! Again, HIGHLY recommended reading. However, JUST reading this book won't get optimum results, you must DO the exercises. You will be shocked what wonderful gifts are drawn (excuse the expression) out of you that you did not even know were there. Enjoy!”
“Great for people who never thought they could draw, and especially for them. (Saying you don't take a drawing class because you can't draw is like not taking driver's ed because you can't drive!) The exercises seem pretty strange at first--like drawing a figure upside-down--but if you follow the directions and take it seriously, you do develop the spatial skills involved and see results.”
