Summary: Each day six-year-old Ruby Bridges walks to school with armed federal marshals at her sides and an angry mob of screaming whites surrounding her. Each day she walks through the crowd with her head held high, until one day when she suddenly stops.
Review: While the literary language of the story is very simple, the message of the story is strong: never give into hatred. Ruby is an inspiring character, capable of showing children that kindness is always more powerful than hate.
