Ugh. As a premise for a movie, it is a great (and that's what I read it for). As a book, it gets lost in the weeds.

    An indictment of contemporary Australia wrapped in a crime thriller. I love the way Flanagan walks the tightrope between genre fiction (chick lit perhaps?) and satire and manages to stay up there. Not much liekd by the Australian critics. Why am I not surprised?
