This is the first Stephen King book I ever read, and it scared the shit out of me!

It took a while to get into the story and to get interesting, and it could be scarier. I guess I don't find Stephen King as scary as some people do.

Good book, but nothing fantastic. I think this book could have benefited from actually being a bit longer in the last third. King takes the first two-thirds at a leasurely pace, mixing detail with story, but his last fifty pages seem really rushed, as if he just wanted to finish it. Other than that, the novel's pretty good, just good have used a few more pages on the rear end.

I read this a long time ago. But it stood out to me. It's just so strikingly horrible. I mean, who kills children? Stephen King does.
