“ I listened to this novel in podcast form, read by the author. To describe it, I would say it is reminiscent of a Tom Clancy thriller, as written by Stephen Hawking, with a welcome sci-fi twist. The science, both actual and theoretical, was solid and well presented, and the characterization was well crafted. Overall, I would say the biggest drawback, unfortunately, was the narrator. I love author read narrative, but in this case, the monotone reading was a drag on the otherwise dynamic story. I found myself having to make an effort to keep listening, and only because the story had me hooked. Apologies to Mr. Desmedt, because he put in a heroic effort, and could rock a Russian accent, but overall his reading did not help the podcast. I did enjoy the Q & A session at the end, and would recommend this novel to any fan of cold war thrillers, astrological science, and sci-fi. Perhaps reading the actual novel, rather than listening to it, is the key.”
