“Well, I finally finished this massive trilogy. I loved a lot of things about it. The story moved in directions that could not be predicted. My only other experience with recent children's fiction is Harry Potter, and those books are very structured. You know the time frame and what to expect (except for the last book). With His Dark Materials though, the plot lead me in directions that were strange and very entertaining.I found that I liked the second protagonist (introduced in the...”
“Enjoyed most of the book. Did not like the misuse of scripture or the end where everyone besides the lead femals is a bad character.”
“It broke my back carrying it around school but totally worth it!!!”
“I 100% agree with what evie v says about this book. It is creative, imaginative and it will grab you emotionally. It was a gift for my 10 year old which I started to read out of boredom, she had to wait until I finished before she could begin to read her own present!”
“I loved this book! It will forever be one of my favorites for its daring originality. The author's style of writing, filled with a rich, colorful narrative and lovable, interesting characters, made this book an exciting journey and a pleasure to read. I flew through the pages and cried at the end because I felt like I was saying goodbye to dear friends. Ignore the controversy surrounding these stories and enjoy it for the thrilling, original fiction that it is. Definitely for adults and children alike. I hope you enjoy it! ”
“This is what I'm reading now”
“I loved the whole series. My favorite part was the description of the creatures and the whole world (into which mary enters) where evolution took a different turn. Having said that, this is no book for the young. i like to call myself agnostic. And i feel this is a bit overdose for children. No wonder christian groups went to the streets with spades in their hands over this book. :)”
