Chapter 1 is definitely a fantastic way to think about evolution and where we come from. His analogy of a digital river (the gene pool with the extra dimension of time) holds up for most questions of ancestry, speciation, relatedness, in a way that's intuitive and easy. How does he do this? The book itself is short, however, and has not so much to add, really, to his other works. Except, like I mentioned, the transcendent first chapter.
