My perspective, as a researcher and proponent of evolutionary theory, is that his hostile tone...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“The world's prominent and prolific scientist atheist explains his belief of a nontheistic creation.
Shelfari review:
Patiently and lucidly, this Los Angeles Times Book Award and Royal Society of Literature Heinemann Prize winner identifies the aspects of the theory of evolution that people find hard to believe and removes the barriers to credibility one by one. "As readable and vigorous a defense of Darwinism as has been published since 1859."--The Economist.

Although this book is written for a general audience, the reader should have a fair grasp of evolutionary theory (which can be obtained through Berra's or Strahler's book) in order to fully appreciate the contents.. more to come”

He's an excellent writer, always striving to keep a clear voice in his explanations. Every thing I've read by him is great, and only one of his books has received fewer than four stars from me.
This book deals with evolution and I read it twice, once in highschool and once in college. I must admit I didn't get much the first time through, but I'd put that off more to youth than his ability as a writer. Superb. Ever wonder how life came to be the way it is? Read this book for some huge insights. However, I'd recommend anyone curious about such questions read The Selfish Gene first.”
