“I really liked the first a lot. The problem is that I was a hard core fan of series before I started reading the books. The first book follows the first season very well except that LaGuarta does not get killed. She is still in the series as of season 4. The other two books are good but not nearly as good as the series. If you like Doakes' character however, do not watch the series. His character is wonderfully portrayed but he does not make it to season 3. The series is wonderful so if you really love Dexter Morgan, that is the way to go.”
“So I just finished the second installment of the Dexter series and was considerably more impressed with it than the first. My question to those who read it is what feelings were you left with at the resolution of Doakes as a problematic factor for Dexter. I would have liked to see more of this character and would almost feel more comfortable with his demise...sorry, Doakes. The thought of him mute and twenty digits in the hole just...irks me. I have begun the third novel and am hoping the series continues to improve.”
