Breathtaking in scope, Schismatrix Plus threatens to overwhelm you with information at times, yet the story flows so well and so easily.

There are some great ideas in here. I enjoyed this book but, I did fly through it like I usually do with sci fi and I did not get into as much as do with some other sci fi.

Schismatrix Plus is a novel with an additional set of short stories that take place in Bruce Sterling's Shaper/Mechanist reality. The first story, Schismatrix starts slow while the reader learns about politics, technology and people, but overall, Schismatrix has a fascinating premise about how humans spread through our solar system. The characterization of the hero entrepreneur is especially interesting and unique. See my full review at http://www.sfreader.com/read_review.asp?book=907

This is one of the best science fiction books ever written. I've heard people say that it is too dense/confusing/etc but that is part of it's genius. Sometimes you just have to let the pages pull you along until you catch your breath. I've owned three copies of this book and they've all gone wandering. I will buy another copy soon to re-read it (and it will not leave my shelf after that).

Everyone I know who's read it wants to be a Lobster. Just thinking about it makes me happy.
