I was raised in the DEEP south in a traditional fundamental baptist type church. We couldn't dance, or listen to the radio, TV wasn't much of an issue as we didn't have cable and there were only 2 local channels, we couldn't play cards, (I was caught playing solitaire and got whupped for it) - I could go on and on. However, it wasn't the endless "could nots" that made me revolt, it was the preachers wife telling me at 8 years old that my friend who was catholic was going to hell. I asked her, "If Jesus loves the little children, red and yellow, black and white, then WHY would he send my friend to hell?" She said, "Because she is Catholic. They worship the virgin Mary and not Jesus, and this is a sin and they are going to hell." I figured out at 8 years old that I wanted NOTHING to do with this god. And I proceeded over the next 20 or so years to run away from the horrible and wrong fundamentalist teachings that are still so prevalent today. I don't know what that preachers wife found when she finally died, but it wasn't anything like what she tried to teach me. So when I read this book, I just wanted to laugh and cry and shout because somebody else figured it out too. This is a book for any human sitting in the pews of a church somewhere and feeling cold and lost and confused by the Jerry Falwell, Oral Roberts, and Pat Robertson way of "interpreting" God. They are clueless and are doing more damage to the human race than all the global warming in the world. More crap has been done in "God's Name" by these types of people than we can imagine. Hello Inquisition? ---- Read this book and open your mind and you will see who God really is.

As a woman born and bred in the Christian tradition, who through a personal, extensive, incredible journey with Spirit discovered that God is One, is All There Is, it was extremely rewarding to read this book. My suggestion to everyone is to each person "work out their own soul's salvation," to interpret God for themselves. As someone who once thought my way was the only way and was shown a different way by God, it is truly a rewarding experience to let each individual's journey unfold within themselves. This book is highly recommended.
