Who doesn't love Yellowstone? And who wouldn't like to imagine what it was like in its early days? This novel is written in the unlikely format of out-going letters from at least a half-dozen characters who have converged on the newly-formed national park, most of whom are there to perform various scientific studies.
The main character is a woman ahead of her time--a botanist traveling alone into the near wilderness, on the adventure of a lifetime.
