Just finished this book last night; a great story-driven novel, it is a portrait of the life of a young Italian baron who lives his life in the canopies of the forest of trees surrounding his village and others. Cosimo educates his tutor, introduces a brigand to literature, joins guilds and even starts one of his own (for firefighting), and has many love affairs all from the branches of the oaks, magnolias, pines and nut trees of Ombrosa. The central idea of the book is lovely, there is a boy who one day decides to not come down from a tree anymore and then spends all his life on it.
