ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!

In highschool history, I was subjected to the 'fashionable' view of Communist takeover of China - the myth of Mao, the myth of the Long March, the rest, all written by people with (red) stars in their eyes.

This book - written by a truly incredible author with a clear and beautiful style - blows away the myths and reveals the truth.

Finally. Here is the real story of Mao and the Chinese Communists. Did you know (for instance) that Mao DID NOT ACTUALLY WALK THE LONG MARCH BUT WAS CARRIED ON A LITTER ALL THE WAY? He wasn't sick or incapacitated, he was simply lazy. And he felt that taking his followers on a (useless and unnecessary) long march, where thousands died from cold, privation and exhaustion, would cement his hold over the survivors. And this is precisely the (non)logic he applied to the whole of China, when he schemed and plotted his way to 'Chairmanship'.

The authors devoted more than a decade to researching and writing this classic - it shows in every page. THIS IS THE REAL STORY, and anyone who values truth in history should definitely read it.

If you want to understand Mao, the Chinese Communist party and/or the current Chinese state, you must read this book.
