I liked this book better than her other book that I have read "Digging to America". Although it was far from one of my favorite books, I did remain interested until the end. I grew to like the main character and her hectic family.

This is a nice subtle story about a woman rethinking her choices in life. She is very endearing, and I rooted for her epiphany the whole way through!

You gotta love Anne Tyler. Reading her is like going home. This novel is, like many others, populated by people you've nearly met. The heroine, as in Breathing Lessons, is a little too cheerful. the supporting characters are idiosyncratic but not cartoonish. And you miss these people when it's over, not because you really want to get to know them, but because you already do. Grade: A- (because Patch was too one-note.)

This is wonderful and the DVD, starring Blythe Danner, is just as wonderful.

I did not expect to like this book but quickly become interested in the plot and stayed with it. I like the evolution of Rebecca and her acceptance of where life has led her, after reflecting on the choices she has made.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching a fully grown woman grow into who she really wants to be! What an enjoyable book! Full of a real family, and their struggles and joys,

This was a good short read, I think it makes an interesting point that sometimes the people we turn out to be are so different from what we started out as, that we can feel disconnected, but it's never to late to change things. And as it turns out, sometimes, who we've become is exactly who we were meant to be.

Anne Tyler is one of my favorite authors. She can make the most mundane life interesting for the reader and one can always relate to her books.

The author is one of my favorites, but this was one of her less inspired works.
