Olympia Wingfield loves old legends and tales of treasure, and now that she has to take in hand her three rambunctious nephews, she has little time for her passion, until Jared Chilhurst comes along. He sweeps in and arranges everything and everyone. Olympia can't help but fall for the dark handsome "tutor". Olympia later discovers that Jared is titled and embroiled in a legend that leads them further into hidden treasure as the mysteries continue to be revealed.
    Loved it!

One of my all time favorite romances. I have re-read this many times. I loved the male character and his interactions with the nephews in the story. Such a sweet story.

Olympia Wingfield is raising her nephews, studying ancient treasure legends, and fending of creepy neighbors. Jared Chillhurst rescues her from creepy neighbor and naughty nephews claiming to be a tutor. However he is really seeking the map of his family's treasure and thinks Olympia has it or can help him find it.

When I read the back cover of this book I was expecting an action/adventure/pirate/treasure hunt sort of story. Perhaps the person who had the job of writing that blurb should be fired. It was none of the above! I kept waiting for them to jump on a ship and go find the treasure they kept talking about, but they never did!!! Even at the end they sent someone else to go find it!!! Huh? And the heroine. Oh my word. Constant defense of her man is very admirable, but makes for a rather boring story. I also thought the character development was a bit lacking. It was like reading about paper dolls -- there was no depth to them at all. And the author just couldn't decide WHO she wanted to be the "bad guy" so she threw a few semi-bad guys in. If I wasn't reading this book for a book challenge I would have tossed it into the UBS bag 200 (of 400) pages in! *snore*

"Deception" was a wondrous read. It kept me engaged with intrigue from the start. The character development of Olympia and Chillhurst were real, as were the three nephews of Olympia.

I found it moved along rather smoothly, and it was a nice break from the current novels I've been reading, where events happen too quickly, too slowly, or just with obvious unraveling to the plot before it should.

I was not disappointed, and glad I purchased an older book. Amanda Quick is an authoress, I will definitely go back to again.

Olympia WIngfield loves to research treasures. As a lady of leisure in the 1800s in England she has plenty of time for it. Then she takes in her three orphaned nephews and her time becomes very limited. The three boys go through tutors like eating candy. Jared Chillhurst (actually he is an Earl) is seeking a family legacy that he thinks Olympia as access to. He shows up and hires on as tutor for the boys in order to be able to investigate her ancient records. This is a rollicking love story in the best historical sense.

What do you get when you add a 'notorious' Earl, inquisitive old maid and missing treasure?
    ONe spell binding read!
I knew with a title like 'Deception' I was in for a treat, and boy was I right as the author Amanda Quick sat the tone of the of her story from the first scene with a man full of mystery, intrigue and drama and a woman who dont know when to quit while she's still ahead! It all makes for a slow juicy build up to a a tense rewarding climax which will keep you guessing to the end.
I couldnt put the book down until it was over

I loved this story! Amanda Quick has a talent for breaking the mold when it comes to her heroes and heroines. And I love how the heroine always sees the hero in a different light then the rest of the world. Wonderful book!
