really interesting. I particularly like the way it describes the methods dictators confirm their authority. I mean the monumental buildings spread in the territory are shown here just like the way pharaon reinforce its presence in people's minds and to satisfy their ego.

Great story of Hatshepsut. At the time I read this, I had no idea there was a female Pharoah. Of course, I had to go to the history books and check all the facts. This was very well researched. Years later I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and saw a sculpture of the female pharoah - I was enchanted! I love getting my history from fiction. :-)

      Hi Barbara,
We just returned from a trip to Egypt and visited the tomb of Hatshepsut and until our trip, like you, I also had no idea there was a female Pharoah. Fascinating. I just found out about this book and I'm looking forward to reading it now. Sounds like it was very good.
