“Very entertaining mystery, with EA Poe as a cadet--is he clueless or conniving? ”

Fun to read a mystery in which the characters have to rely on thought and instinct rather than fingerprints, labs, wiretaps, etc.”

It was a bit slow at times but generally a good plot. Towards the end an incident took place that almost had me put the book down and not finish the last 50 pages, as I thought it got too far fetched. But then the last few chapters ties it all together with a surpristing twist.

Not only is it a compelling story, but it's a story with a twist - or maybe two. Recruited to assist the detective brought in to solve the mystery is a young cadet named ... Edgar Poe. Poe, who is unsuited to a military life, to say the least, digs into the case while quoting his own verses and beiing swept away on the wings of a poetic love. This book could well have been written in the 19th century, as the mood is so well set in that era. I couldn't put it down.”
