Much of what good parents read in this book will be stuff they've already been doing, stuff they already know. Still, the simple observations of John Holt as he gently watches - without intruding - young children is eye opening. I have felt myself become more aware of my own children's struggles to make sense of the world around them. My ability to have patience and respect their journeys has increased while reading this book.
