We rode our bikes, we roller-skated, we played dodgeball, and we played jump rope. We raced on foot, on bikes, on scooters, and on skates. We took our...

I always purchased a few new books for my classroom collection as a group Christmas gift. It was a good thing I read it before I put it out because it certainly never collected any dust on the shelf afterwards. I must say there were a few grumbles over letting the girls read it, even though I had the girls' version too.

I am continually reading this book and believe I will until I pass it on to my children. It is in my opinion an essential resource book for any boy no matter their age. Within its pages are extrordinary stories, activities, magic tricks, codes, even advice on the opposite sex, etc.

It is a companion like no other, it taps into items of importance that other "boyhood guidebooks" fear to even faintly touch on. It fills me with notions and awe and I am older than most people would suggest is the intended audience, even though it says right on the back "Recapture Sunday afternoons and long summer days.
The perfect book for every boy from eight to eighty."
It is far better than any other reference or handbook type volume I have ever read through.
My hat is off to the Iggulden brothers, well done!
