“A long-awaited sequal to Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintanence, this novel is a bit more straightforward than its predecesor but still deals with similar themes. Phaedrus (Robert Pirsig's alter ego) has abandoned motorbikes and has now taken up sailing as his zen hobby. On the way he picks up a girl at a bar. Moral dilemmas ensue. Does Lila have a quality, or is she just as mad as the rest of the world?
Does Phaedrus have any obligation to the Lilas of this world, or is he hopelessly lost again in his rambling rhetoric?
Whatever the answers, if you are in the frame of mind for a cruisy, philosophic boat ride of a story, you'll enjoy this one.”
