Jody was lonely and just wanted to have someone around that would understand what she is going through (Elijah is still….detained), so she changed him. Now that they...” see full review » see other reviews » |
Didn’t Like It“A comedy about vampires...how can you go wrong? Moore demonstrates how in this lame book.” see full review » see other reviews » |
“This sequel felt lacking in plot. I loved how the story was told from Abby Normal's perspective and it would have been that much funnier if it were told that way throughout. It was definitely crude in areas, though, and with the combined absence of plot and repetition from the first novel, I was very disappointed with this book. Abby saves it, though.”

This is my second Christopher Moore book and probably will be my last. I'm really don't enjoy his sense of humour.

“***Spoilers for Bloodsucking Fiends***
Jody and Tommy are at it again. This time they take on the animals from the Safeway and a blue hooker from Vegas. Moore presents this story in his usual laugh out loud style: he includes a half page chapter entitled The Last Poop, he gives Tommy and Jody blood laced coffee which they drink like it's heroin, and he writes the occasional chapter in the voice of a gothic 16 year old with a vampire fascination and an undeniable perkiness. It almost goes without saying that I loved this book. Moore never disappoints. I can't wait to read the third installment, which apparently comes out next March. My only complaint is that Moore spends a lot of time recapping Bloodsucking Fiends. Unfortunately, for me, I had only just finished reading Bloodsucking Fiends and the recaps became annoying.
Here's my question: Jody talks about loving the vampire life because it gives her a sense of power, is Tommy threatened by this? I notice that Tommy and Jody fight a lot more often in this book. Tommy seems to be unhappy with the vampire lifestyle. He hates the intensity of his senses and the necessity of feeding on the living. Jody, on the other hand, loves being a predator on the streets. She no longer needs to be scared to walk alone at night, whereas Tommy is afraid. I thought this was an interesting dynamic between the two. Is it possible that Tommy is jealous by Jody's superior powers, and that he wishes to return to human in which a man feels inherently more powerful than any woman?”
“Second part of Bloodsucking Fiends. Equally as funny as the first one!”

Can't go wrong with this type of humor. My first book by Christopher and certainly not the last. I never imagined so much humor with Vampires before....”
