Yes | No“I grew up in Franklin County, Vermont, and knew people who had been affected by the historically accurate situations in this novel. My own mother refused to admit that one of her grandmothers was Abenaki. This book portrays the culture of the 30's very well, indeed, and the culture of silence and secrets it spawned.”

“This book was not as good as other Picoult books. She tried to cover too many topics: ghosts, suicide, and genetic defects. The storyline was okay but it was too long and a very slow read.”
