The main story line should've been the "mercy killing" of cancer ridden Maggie by her devoted, loving husband. Instead, I felt the story shifted too much in the direction of the infidelity of Cam, the police chief,...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“Extremely well written and an enjoyable read, but it deals some complex interpersonal relationships which make it difficult to highly recommend. However, the more I think about it, the more I would recommend that people read it - simply so that they can view life through other people's eyes. ”

I liked the main characters as far as how well you got to know them. I was baffled by the whole affair and Cam loving two women. I guess because it isn't in my realm of feelings it's also not in my realm of understanding. The euthanasia story was interesting, thought provoking when they'd focus on it, but I felt like, just like the lawyer, Picoult tended to stay away from that issue and focus on other things.”

At the store I read the back of this novel and knew that I had to give it a try. The question on the back alone made me start to think, and forced me to read this novel in order to see her take on the situation. This boooks major theme involved love and murder. The question that was posed was, how far are you willing to go for the person you love? If asked, would you kill? If I were asked this question personally I would have no answer. After reading this novel, more answers to this question become clear, but the one true answer will never reveal itself. ”
