Jodi Picoult did a fabulous job opening the windows to the characters. I thought it was well-written and hard to put down.

I listened to this on audio and I find that I much prefer Jodi Picoult in that form.

I was interested in knowing how this book would be tied up, but I didn't necessarily like it. I didn't find any of the characters likable and, as is the case with many of her books, the plot was predictable.

This book wasn't my favorite. I felt it started very strongly but halfway through, I was struggling a bit to finish it. However, I thought that this topic was more interesting than her first book, Songs of the Humpback Whale - just not as well written. Jodi Picoult does have a certain knack of putting you in the other person's shoes and making you see everything from different points of views. In her first book, we sympathize with an adulterer. In her second book, she makes us think from the eyes of a very tired mother who has skeletons in her closet and cannot find another solution, other than abandoning her 3-month old son.
