Did anybody find the ending of this book rather predictable? When the book came down to the final few pages and Ender still hadn't even attempted to defeat the buggers, I think that sort of gave it away for me.

i was hooked on to this one, just cudn't put it down. its just so fascinating. and the characters are so well written, and in some cases, eerily close to reality....
so many subtle hints about questioning our own morals, think about humanity as a whole. love it, absolutely love it.

Why my friend's ask is this one of my favorite books? Does it teach a moral lesson? Do I learn something...feel something...am I a better person in any way? I don't know, I just think Card is an amazing author. I don't like science fiction generally, and I hated the first book I read of his, but since then I have been amazed at the vast genre of books he writes. This one I've read more times than I've read most books. I must relate to Ender in some way. Well crafted story. Even though I know how it's going to end, I cheer every time I get there.

Read it twice...love it! Perfect as a stand-alone...does just fine with and without parts two or three of the trilogy. I really like Cards other books, too. Good stuff.

Definitely a hot pick. I've lured a number of adolescent boys who were reluctant readers into the world of books with this one. (Yup, I'm a high school teacher.)

I'm looking forward to the movie by director Wolfgang Petersen. I hope he doesn't screw this one up!
