Characters edit see section history

  • Cimorene: The Heroine of the story. A reluctant princess with a taste for adventure and all that's unprincesslike and not proper to the royal family. She cooks, fences, reads Latin, cleans... and she would much rather serve a dragon than marry a prince. The other princesses find her peculiar.
  • Kazul: One of the dragons that Cimorene meets when running away from home. Kazul takes on Cimorene as her princess because she needs "someone who can speak Latin and make proper cherries jubilee." The two instantly become friends.
  • Morwen: A tidy, respectable witch who lives in the Enchanted Forest. She's friends with Kazul and keeps lots and lots of cats.
  • Alianora: Woraug's princess and Cimorene's friend. She is very kind and almost the complete opposite of Cimorene but they get along great.
  • Zemenar: The Head of the Wizarding Society. Cimorene meets him and the two immediately dislike each other.
  • Antorell: A wizard who studies under Zemenar.
  • Woraug: A dragon who dislikes Cimorene and is constantly causing trouble for her.
  • Therandil: The prince Cimorene is slated to marry. He's empty-headed and stubborn.
  • Tokoz: King of the Dragons.
  • Roxim: An older, kindly dragon.
  • Scorn: One of Morwen's cats who lives in the Enchanted Forest with her. Scorn is very fond of Kazul.
  • The Stone Prince: A prince who becomes lost in the Caves of Fire and Night, takes the golden spoon, and becomes partially stone. Great things are expected of him, but he hasn't quite fulfilled those expectations...yet.
