I find that even though this book is the first of the series, It was a lot more enjoyable and interesting if you read it second, after the book "The Dark is Rising."

I read this years ago, at the time I found it exciting and suspenseful, but if I ready it now, I'm not sure how I would feel about it.

i WAS RECOMMEND TO READ THIS BOOK, and whilst it was not that bad, it was, in my opinion, for what that is worth, a book for children of around 10 - 12 yrs, it was not a book I would recommend for an adult, unless they really like this age limit. I did have the next book on but the Library wanted it back and I really was not certain that the next book would be on any higher level, so for me, it is not my type. Evelyn S
