Susan Cooper's books in this series are mostly wonderful stories of children or young adults involved in trying to prevent the return of evil powers into the world. Some books were harder for me to enjoy than others, as the settings and characters changed from book to book, but the overall sense of impending threat is well maintained as the heroes try to learn what they must do to prevent the Dark from returning. Many vivid scenes remain behind after reading these books, and I would recommend...

I choose this book because its about fantasy. This book is about forces of good and evil that have battled continuously.Jane,Simon and Barney Drew have discovered and ancient text that reads of a legendary grail lost centuries ago and they are trying to discover the secret about the text.I think the author choose this book because he is tying to think about things that aren't real. I find that even though this book is the first of the series, It was a lot more enjoyable and interesting if you read it second, after the book "The Dark is Rising."

I read this years ago, at the time I found it exciting and suspenseful, but if I ready it now, I'm not sure how I would feel about it.

i WAS RECOMMEND TO READ THIS BOOK, and whilst it was not that bad, it was, in my opinion, for what that is worth, a book for children of around 10 - 12 yrs, it was not a book I would recommend for an adult, unless they really like this age limit. I did have the next book on but the Library wanted it back and I really was not certain that the next book would be on any higher level, so for me, it is not my type. Evelyn S
