I find it the most disturbing and sad book I've ever read. The characters are caught in dangerous illusions which make them follow a path of degradation. Each one has its drug that gives them a reason to live for. Can we blame them? Sara wants to appear on Tv and be admired by thousands of people; Marion, Harry and Tyrone hope to leave Bronx and build a comfortable life. Only that they follow the wrong way and their dreams destroy them in the end.
I wish I hadn't seen the movie first.
